Could Plan-B Cause Itching In Vagina?

Can plan b cause an itchy vagina? Had protected sex two days ago but the condom broke so yesterday I took plan b and now today I m itchy. I am also on normal birth control but took the plan b because we had intercourse on the day I started my active pills back up and I didn t know if I was covered or not.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi & Welcome.

Plan-B is unlikely to cause itching in vagina.

The most common side of Plan-B (emergency contraceptive pill containing Levonorgestrel) include:Nausea & vomiting, abdominal pain, tiredness, dizziness, changes in vaginal bleeding, breast tenderness, diarrhea, or headache.

Itching could have been caused by other reasons like dry skin, fungal infection or allergic reaction.
A gynecological examination is recommended to exclude the above causes and proper treatment.

Hope to have answered.
