Could A Mass In The Upper Portion Of His Stomach Be Cancerous While With A Childhood History Of Ulcers And Indigestion?
My husband had his first colonoscopy and endoscopy today at age 62. I suggested to the doctor he have an endoscopy due to history of indigestion and childhood history of ulcer (no recent history). His prep failed though he followed instructions properly. The doc was only able to see about half of the colon. However, on endoscopy he says he saw a mass in the upper portion of his stomach. He said to put the colonoscopy on the back burner for now and go next week for a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis with contrast. From what I m reading, it appears that masses are typically cancerous in the stomach. I know there are many variables and it s very difficult to diagnose online. However, I m very curious as to your opinion on stomach masses in general. He s pretty much asymptomatic. Thank you.
A mass in stomach needs to be investigated. Your husband needs a biopsy of the stomach mass to know the exact cause of the mass. The nature of the mass can be determined by biopsy. Further management will also depend on the nature of the lesion.
