Could A Small White Bump On Pelvic Area Be Herpes?

I m worried about the herpes virus and just need some insight to put my mind at ease. I had a small white bump that didn t hurt too bad. I noticed it when changing pants today and brushed my finger against it through my underwear. I have a picture of it at that point. I then popped it. It was fairly easy to pop. It was on my pelvic area, to the right and closer to my stomach than my genitals.

Hello,

You have a small white bump, you popped it. It didn't hurt much. The bump is in the pelvic area. The herpes sores look like blisters filled with fluid. The sores break open, ooze in a few days and form a crust before healing. Herpes cause symptoms like tingling, itching, or burning feeling a few days before the sores appear. Do not touch, scratch or pop. It may result in the spread of infection. An outbreak may involve a single sore or a cluster of sores.

They affect the skin around the mouth, the genitals, or the rectum. The blisters take 2 to 4 weeks to heal. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an OBGYN, get STD, HPV tests done to stay on the safer side. In case the test result gives positive report you will be treated with antibiotics and antivirals. Delay may result in the worsening of the condition.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
