Could A Stroke Cause Leg Mottling?

Hi I was wondering if you could die instantly from a stroke. I have a elderly family member that was found slumped over in bed. She had been opening her straw for supper. The only symptoms that were reported to me was that her legs were mottled. Could it have been a stroke?

Well, that's a complicated question. How fast is the word INSTANT to you? Yes, a sudden aneurysmal burst within the brain could cause IMMEDIATE death in any patient but that's much less common than a massive heart attack. In this situation there's a time lag between when she was opening her straw, had the event, and then, was found. So, the word instant may not be entirely the most accurate word to use but I agree that whatever it was was probably cataclysmic and obviously catastrophic. Only an autopsy can define the actual cause of death.

As per your explanation i strongly recommend it can not be because of stroke but due to some other region. I am not able to identify things properly since I have not seen patient image. But I am sure it can not be because of stroke. Stroke will cause disability but not the kind of symptoms you have explain. Take care
