Could Accidental Intake Of Carbamide Peroxide Be A Matter Of Concern?
I was using Debrox ear wax remover (active ingredient carbamide Peroxide) I think I used to much as it began to foam and i think it flowed threw the shared ear nasal mouth cavity Because I coughed up some of the foam. The package says to call poison control if its swallowed. I rinsed out my ear and mouth. should I still call poison control or a nurse hotline and or seek medical attention?
Carbamide peroxide contains potentially hazardous chemicals. It may affect your teeth if concentrations are too high. You are recommended to visit ER or a nurse hotline and get emergency treatment if needed done urgently before symptoms appear (dizziness, trouble breathing, itching, swelling, allergic reactions, etc). The treating doctor may need to do a gastric lavage to help you stay on the safer side. You may need intravenous support and PPI's, etc. Rinse your mouth with water and spit out as much as you can.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
