Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Premenstrual syndrome is a combination of emotional, physical, psychological, and mood disturbances that occur after a woman's ovulation. It typically ends with the onset of her menstrual flow.
Commonly seen symptoms include mood swings,
depression, irritability, or anxiety (with or without physical symptoms). Symptoms generally go away within the first 3 days of menstrual bleeding.
Some medical conditions like
migraine, seizure disorders,
irritable bowel syndrome, asthma and allergies may get worse between ovulation and the first day of menstrual bleeding.
The most commonly used medicines include:
1. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for pain.
2. Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) for mood-related symptoms.
3. Hormonal birth control, which may help relieve
premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
