Hi,
Brintellix contains
nortriptyline which belongs to the group of
antidepressant medications known as
tricyclic antidepressant medications is used to treat depression. It is thought to work by increasing the activity of serotonin in the brain. Sudden increased dosage of Brintellix may cause some side effects like chest pain or discomfort, nausea, vomiting, slurred speech, hypotension or dropped blood pressure, cold and clammy skins, dizziness,
lightheadedness, breathing difficulties, unexplained fainting, unexplained fainting, weakness, pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back or neck etc.
These side effects may go away with treatment as the body adjusts to the medicine. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor promptly for
medical help. Don't stop taking this medication despite side effects without consulting your doctor. Take this medication only as directed by your doctor. Don't take more of it, don't take it more often and don't take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician
