Could Chondromalacia Cause Pain In Ischium And Lateral Hip?

I had an MRI of my hip and chondromalacia was seen. I am a runner and but have lateral hip pain mostly at rest. I stopped running 8 weeks ago because I had high hamstring tendinopathy which is resolving but I still have some pain localized to my ischium and lateral hip. Could this be from chondromalacia?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Chondromalacia at hip joint per se is very unlikely to cause any rest pain, but the association cannot be ruled out. Would like to examine you clinically to decide the further course of action.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Gopal Goel, Orthopaedic Surgeon
