Could Constant Blockage And Congestion Be Long Term Sinus Infection?

I'm constantly blocked up and congested. I haven't been right since developing Sinusitis back in February, I have had antibiotics and did get a bit of a respite for a while but then the problem came back. Could this be a long term infection or an allergy?

Hello.

Thank you for asking at HCM.

I went through your history and would like to make suggestions as follows:

1. Sinusitis can be caused by allergies, infection as well as sometimes structural abnormalities in nose cavity.

2. Were I treating you, I would prescribe you intranasal corticosteroids, montelukast and steam inhalation for at least 4 weeks.

3. If no improvement, I would suggest you to consult an ENT surgeon who will examine the nose cavity from inside to find out any possible structural defect which may require surgery.

4. If improved, I would suggest you to reduce medications with improvement of symptoms and go for allergy testing which will help you to identify the substances to avoid.

5. I would also suggest you plenty of warm fluids during day as well as a healthy diet rich in vitamins & minerals (adequate green leafy vegetables, fruits, sprouts, etc)

Hope above suggestions will be helpful to you.

Should you have any further query, please feel free to ask at HCM.

Wish you a great recovery and the best of the health ahead.

Thank you & Regards.
