Could Cough Followed By Vomiting In An Infant Be A Matter Of Concern?

Good Day My daughter who is a year and half she sometimgs cuagh in her sleep and then pukes. This happens maybe four times a month and if she just ate everything comes up. There are no other symptom like fever or change in mod or behavior. She does have a running nose. Is this something I should be concern about or is there other symptoms I should be watching for. Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the coughing and runny nose are acute (short term symptoms) then they may be due to a cold.

If they occur intermittently and she does not appear to have a cold with them , then it may be due to allergies.
Allergic rhinitis (inflammation of the nose) and allergic sinusitis can cause these symptoms.

Treatment would involve determining the allergen and avoiding if possible. Oral antihistamines and nasal sprays may be needed as well if symptoms are bothersome to her.

I hope this helps
