Could Coughing Up Of Blood Be The Symptom Of Pneumonia?

My husband has been coughing up blood for 3 days in the mornings. He went to the Dr. yesterday and had a chest Xray and found out that he has some pneumonia. They think that is where the blood is coming from but there was more this morning than before. I am worried.
