Could Delay In Administering Allopurinol Cause Adverse Damage On Health?
I was discharged yesterday from the hospital and on the discharge papers it states I was to be giving a new drug Allopurinol but they didn t give me the script for it. I call the hospital and they told me the Dr. was gone so I would have to wait till Monday to get the script. will this delay cause me anything?

Allopurinol is used for gout and it decreases synthesis of uric acid. The level of uric acid is increased in gout hence allopurinol is given to lower it's level. It's effect takes weeks and is not life saving. So delay of day or two will not affect your health and need not to worry. All the best.
