Hi,

Losar H contains a combination of losartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Even though none of these can can cause frank diabetes, hydrochlorothiazide can increase blood sugar, and impair glycemic control to some extend. Still, it is a commonly used drug in diabetics without any added difficulty.

Since BP is still on the higher side, we will need to continue the drug, but can be modified if needed, depending on the level of sugar control. Kindly discuss with your doctor. Often hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol occur as a triad in obese individual. So if your weight is on the higher side, diet modification and regular physical exercise to decrease weight can help to control all these together.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
