Could Drainage Of Pus From The Surgical Scab Be Due To Infection?

I have had a brown scab after surgery on my stomach and it now has started to turn green and a little puffy, when the scab was pulled back slightly and pus like liquid escaped from under the scab -- does that mean it is infected ??? I was only using a small gauage and some tape to cover the wound area.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on your description, it does sound as though an infection is present.

At this stage topical antibiotics may not be enough so you may need oral antibiotics.

It would be best to visit your doctor for an assessment. The wound area may also need to be cleaned and a dressing applied.
Depending on the extent of the infection, repeated dressings may be needed.

I hope this helps
