Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I appreciate your concern for your beloved brother.
Since your brother had
head injury in May 2014 and subsequently put on
Eptoin and Levipil to prevent the seizures (
convulsion).
Alcohol consumption itself can precipitate seizures.
Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of Levipil such as
dizziness,
drowsiness, and difficulty concentrating.
Alcohol may interfere with Eptoin.
The amount of Eptoin blood may increase, causing more side effects or it may decrease, which may result in seizures.
Chronic alcohol consumption may also prevent the liver from properly processing Eptoin, thus increasing its level and causing more side effects.
Therefore he should avoid the use of alcohol while being treated with these medications.
Hope this answers your query.
