Could Drinking Horlicks Regularly Cause Constipation?
My Grandfather is 78 years old and he is regularly having horlicks in water everyday morning. And since few days he is suffering form constipation. Is there any like between having horlicks and constipation? Please let me know the side effects of horlicks.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Horlicks doesn't have much fiber and most of the content in that if taken in excess can cause constipation. Also, elderly people are more prone to get constipation to lack of proper reflexes. Taking fiber supplementation or raw vegetables and fruits will be helpful to get regular free bowel movement. Enough plain water should be taken. Lactulose syrup or taking dried prunes before bedtime will also be helpful.
