Could Dry Hair And Memory Loss Be Related To Underactive Thyroid?

I am seventy years old and have been taking medication for an underactive thyroid for fifteen years. My husband has been commenting on my hair looking dry, and a couple of times recently I have completely forgotten that I have told someone something. I am in general good health, not overweight, and still active both mentally and physically. Could the hair and memory be related to my thyroid?

Yes definitely. Hypothyroidism is most common now a days. All your symptoms suggesting hypothyroidism. Maybe you are on treatment but i think it looks insufficient doses. First of all you check thyroid profile. For you it may be raised levels of TSH hormones. For adequate control it should be in the range of 0.5 to 5. It should be checked every 3months regularly with out missing. throxine supplementation in the form of L-troxin tab. You should make your mind This will be the life long treatment like diabetes where glucose should be under control and in thyroid prior thyroxine leave should be under control.

Consult nearby endocrinologist for this problem
