Could Dryness In Mouth Be The Result Of Medication For Potts Spine?

Hi, My mother(62 years old) was recently operated for potts spine. She was taking Shelcal 500 but had now been recommended to take shelcal-os. Additionally, she is on Rifampicin, Nugaba(150mg BD). She is now experiencing extreme dryness of mouth. Could one of her medications be responsible for this?

Hello,

Anti-tubercular drugs some times cause these kind of problems. Drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
