Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Dull, Sharp Pain In Neck With Sharp Tingling In Neck And Head While Being On Oxygen For Copd Be Due To Labouring To Breathe?
I am a 49 year old woman with copd/emphesema. I havebeen hospitalized several times in the last two years. I am now on 2 liters of oxygen at home. Today I went to a medical appointment and did not take portable oxygen with me. I had a distance to walk to and from my car and i struggled with the breathing but this time it I experienced a very dull-sharp pain through the front and back of my neck and sharp tingling up my neck to my head. Is that because I was laboring to breathe or is this a heart issue? I am on a low grade heart medication because my pulse rate usually run in the 120 s.
Thank you for the question.Lack of oxygen and walking long distance may have produced hypoxia effect on heart with some coronary spasm temporarily.Just be watchful if it comes again at walking with or without walk.alternatively, an holter monitoring for heart 24 hours may give clue if heart is affected by COPD hypoxia. So consult a cardiologist who may do immediate EKG during an episode
