Could Elevated Levels Of Liver Enzymes Be Due To Alcohol Intake?
My husband has an SBPT/ALT result of 64 and SGOT/AST of 40. He is 50 yo and drinks every night. He is active at work and on the weekends. The doctors don t seem to be concerned so my husband doesn t take it seriously when they say avoid alcohol . Is this serious or just something to watch?

I can understand your concern for your husband.
The levels are not that alarming.
I would suggest an ultrasound abdomen to look for fatty liver changes or cirrhotic liver(these are seen in alcoholic patients)
I would also require the total report of the liver function tests to come to a proper conclusion.
Meanwhile i would suggest you to reach out to a de addiction centre if your husband is totally addictive to alcohol.
