Could Elevated Liver Enzymes Be Due To Fatty Liver?

My liver enzymes were 61. I have had to be on perkecet and dilaudid for pain control as I have had a dislocated shoulder. Which is pain medication is better to take for pain and for the liver? I have a history of fatty liver disease. Could the elevated liver enzymes mean that the fatty liver disease is back?

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

Perkecet contain acetaminophen + oxycodone and Dilaudid contain Hydromorphone.

All of the above are hepato-toxic and may lead to elevated liver enzymes. Liver damage is more when these medicines used in combination.

Also you had fatty liver which is its self associated with elevated liver enzymes, so use of above medicines may aggravate the situation.

So it is advisable to monitor your Liver function test.

Acetaminophen when used alone is relatively safe for liver.

Hope this helps you, if so do vote as helpful.
