Could Fuzzy Thinking, Nausea And Bump On Head Post A Fall Indicate Concussion?
My 15 year old son was playing basketball this afternoon. He fell; other guys landed on top of him. He hit his head. He had some fuzzy thinking and nausea, but was able to watch rest of the games. He still has fuzzy thinking; difficulty focusing. His nausea is about the same. He also feels like his neck area is a little swollen. He has small raised bump on the back of his head that hurts slightly. I am wondering about slight concussion and if I should have him looked at?
As per my clinical experience, the symptoms of mild headache, nausea with bump on the back of scalp, fuzzy thinking do indicate possible post concussion syndrome most likely. Following guidelines are better to be followed as general guidelines: - Give plenty of liquids in sessions at intervals - Anti emetic as ondancetron on empty stomach - Acetaminophen or paracetamol for headache relief - Local application of ice for bump over back Observe the progression of symptoms for a period of 24 hours, by which time it should be improving over 50%, if low or persisting then consult his neurologist immediately.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
