Could General Anesthesia Cause Blurry Vision And Worsened Eyesight?

I m 51 yo female. Had general anesthesia for kidney stones two days ago. I wear reading glasses and now I am noticing that my vision is worse since the procedure and slightly blurry. I noticed the same thing 3 years ago right after general anesthesia for a hysterectomy. Could general anesthesia cause a worsening of eyesight? Is it permanent? (no pain, no other issues, just worse vision.)

Hello,

Blurry vision after general anesthesia is commonly due to corneal abrasion. To prevent eye complications post surgery, the eyes should be properly protected by eye patches, hypoallergenic tape, saline-soaked pads, etc. Corneal abrasions tend to heal quickly, usually within two or three days. But, you may need antibiotic eye drops or just lubrication eye drops depending on the type of abrasion.

Since you are having blurry vision, you are suggested to get clinically examined by an Eye specialist. You may need a new pair of lens or bandage contact lens, etc. Get treated at the earliest.
