Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have an infected gum in connection with my upper eye tooth and on the same side I have also been having eye floaters, and the eye socket nearest my nose is somewhat sore. I did call a dentist today. However, I am wondering if the gum infection is connected with the eye floaters?
So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my level best to resolve it to the best of my knowledge and understanding..
As per your query, floaters in eyes is generally not seen to be caused due to gum infection although eye floaters can be seen to be caused due to excessive sinus pressure if there is an associated sinus infection along with gum inflammation. While other causes of floaters includes causes like Vitreous degeneration, increased age, uveitis, retinal tear, diabetic retinopathy etc can cause floaters.. So I would suggest you to consult an Ophthalmologist and get evaluated and a thorough evaluation, retinoscopy etc can help in ruling out the cause of floaters and treatment can be done according to the diagnosis.. As far as gum infection is concerned proper scaling followed by antibiotic therapy can resolve..
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards.
