Hello, around a year ago my sister used a hair bleach to bleach her hair, and it left a very strong smell to linger throughout the house. The smell was unavoidable. Are there any concerns about hair bleach fumes? Can hair bleach fumes cause brain damage?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you bleach fumes contain sodium hypochlorite which firstly effects respiratory tract and causes irritation to throat ,Breathlessness coughing. Inhaling too much bleach can also lead to severe headaches , along with delirium and confusion. The person may start forgetting things. So you should not worry much about brain damage. You should drink a glass of milk. Drink plenty of fluids as well. You should move to an area with plenty of fresh air. Taking long, deep breaths and exhaling slowly can help clear the lungs of the sodium hypochlorite gas. Bleach fumes can cause skin reactions such as contact dermatitis. Visit general physician once and get it examined if you experiencing any such symptoms.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
