Could Hardcore Running In Marathons Cause Elevated AST And ALTs?

I am an experienced 55 year old male and a pretty fast runner - I average 20 miles per week at 7 to 7 30 minutes/mile and push hard at training sessions and race up to half marathons. I had my blood sample taken just after being out on a 6.2 mile hilly session in 48 minutes on a warm sunny day and 22C. My AST and ALT are elevated - is this due to the exercise I do??

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, such enzyme elevation are not due to running but this could be nonspecific and this may not be matter of concern if you do not have any symptoms still better to get done the liver sonography just for safe side, hope this helps, take care and have a nice day.
I find this answer helpful
