Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Having Back Surgeries Cause Popping Knee While Bending And Painful Legs?
I have had two back surgeries. Recently my right leg has been causing me much discomfort. My knee pops when I bend over. My leg hurts and keeps me away at night. When I first get up in the morning I have to hold on to something to walk to the bathroom. Question is Do you think this is coming from my back?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Back surgeries is unlikely to cause pain in knee. The symptoms of popping of knee joint when you bent the knee, pain in the knee and difficulty in walking is suggestive of degenerative change in the joint called osteoarthritis. Popping sound is characteristically produced by loose bodies in the knee joint. Loose bodies are formed in osteoarthritis. Thus, I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment and relevant investigations to make a confirmed diagnosis. Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease so its management aims to slow down the degenerative process. The damage already done cannot be reversed. Thus, consult your orthopedician as early as possible.
