Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Hematocrit Being 30% And Irregular Breathing Be Hormonal Problems?
Mr Li was brought into ER in comatose state and has not come out of it yet. his hematocrit was 30%. on second day of hospitalization, nurse reports he is breathing irregularly, his skin is dry and flaccid and he has emptied his urine reservoir several times during the day. his blood and urine tests are negative for glucose and ketones. what would be his hormonal problem and what caused it
The irregular breathing with hematocrit of 30% can be related to various problems such as - Kidney malfunction with diabetes incipidus (high volume diluted urine without urine sugar) - Issues with hypothalamus or pituitary axis affecting adrenal glands - Others
If you can provide me all details of your lab reports, further guidelines can be figured out.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
