Could I Be Pregnant With Pinkish Brown Spotting When On Birth Control Pills And Antibiotics For Infection?
I have been having mild to moderate cramps today, started spotting yesterday. Bright red spot or 2, then more pinky-brown. Negative pregnancy test today. On continuous oral birth control for a number of years. Took antibiotics for an unrelated infection about 2 months ago...maybe affected the birth control? Not sure what's happening...
There are instances where there is interaction between antibiotics and birth control pills but I do not suspect that in your case. If the pregnancy test has been done according to instructions and it is negative then most probably you are not pregnant. It could be the beginning of your periods as withdrawal bleeding during use of birth control pills usually presents in a similar way. I would like to suggest change in birth control methods as oral birth control pills lead to many side effects when used for more than 3 years. I suggest you get in touch with your gynecologist and decide which method is more suitable depending on the number of the years you want to continue birth control. Thanks.
