Could Intake Of Medication For Rheumatoid Arthritis Cause Itchy Red Spots On Body?
I am taking 2 medications for my rheumatoid arthritis. Leflunomide 20 mg. and Mylan-Hydroxychloroquine 200 mg. I have been having small red spots on my body all over. The doctors think it is bits, bit they show up on my bottom where flies or fleas cann t get at. They are small pin marks and last for a couple of days and disappear. They are itchy. I get them mostly on my back by my bra line, or when I were cotton panties around the front or back bottom. Can this be a side effect of this medication.
As per my clinical experience, the both medications mentioned as Leflunomide and Mylan hydroxychloroquine are having excellent results in rheumatoid arthritis condition. Both medicines can give rise to development of itchy rashes over various parts of the body as a side effect profile.
It is recommended to consume both drugs on alternate basis (ex: take only Leflunomide for straight 10 days and omit Hydroxy) which can reveal the possible culprit.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
