Could Intake Of Percocet Increase The Cholesterol Levels?
I took Percocet from September 4, 2012 until October 8 for 2 fractured ribs. In the beginning I was taking 1 1/2 every 4/6 hours. In October I was taking 1/2 twice a day. I had complete blood work done on October 3 and my cholesterol leve was 199. It has never been over 164. Could the percocet have caused the rise?
Welcome to HCM, This is an interesting development. I have not noticed a relationship, it is not in the PDR I reviewed as a metabolic side-effect so I went to google scholar and found no published studies showing a relationship to elevated cholesterol. I checked my updated Drug/Nutrient Handbook and nothing. It does not appear to be related to percocet.
Your other labs were normal? Liver enzymes, how were they? I suspect that either your diet changed, or perhaps there is another variable I am not aware of.
Optimally, you do want to shoot for 180 although you are still below 200. The profile is more important to me. I assume he ran one?
