Could Intermittent Pain Under The Ribcage Be Due To Kidney Stones?
I have a pain under my rib cage on the right side that just wont go away, it comes and goes, I can tolerate it ,if it gets to bad I take Advil and that helps, my energy level is poor and I on average just don t feel as good as I could. I was wondering if it may be Kidney stones ?
Hello welcome to HCM. First of all i want to know whether you met with an accident. or You fell down hurting on right side. If so there could be fracture of ribs . if its sever type of fracture then there could have been associated breathing problem. Next possibility is of Peptic ulcer disease or Hiatal hernia. Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper GI endoscopy. Avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down. To help control the stomach acid, one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them, or eat chocolate or spicy or greasy foods. Also take some antacid but if the symptoms are severe, then you may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors. Please consult physician. If you are not relieved after treatement then please get one plain abdominal scan which will rule out other causes like gall stone, pancreatitis, kidney stones and show it to surgeon for further treatement. He will guide you.In kidney stones thre will be intermittent pain but it will be at lower level below the ribs. Take care
