Could Intermittent Sharp Pain Be Symptom Of Shingles?
I am 55 years old. I have the shingles and it is my first time. I have small sharp pain that comes and go in the area where I hit me. Is this a sign that it is about to start again? If so, What should I do for help? I am at work. I just want to know now.
Intermittent pain can occur due to shingles which is generally a nerve related pain. Neuralgia pain can be severe and will not reduce with regular pain killers. You may need drugs like Pregabalin or Gabapentin which inhibit the pain signals at the level of brain and reduce neuralgia.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
