Could Itchy Bumps On My Fingers And Toes Be Due To Scabies?

I think I may have come in to contact with someone that has scabies. I don’t know for sure. I have developed little bumps that have appeared on the palms of my hands and my fingers, and also some of my toes. They itch and kind of hurt as well. Could this be scabies?

Hello,

You are suffering from itchy bumps on your fingers and toes. It can be scabies. You are suggested to apply Ascabiol lotion all over the body but be careful so that it doesn't enter your eyes or sensitive areas. Scabicide lotion or cream should be applied to all areas of the body from the neck down to the feet and toes. Leave it for 40-45 minutes and then take bath.

Wear soft cotton clothes. Wash all your clothes and beddings in hot water, do not share your toiletries with anyone. Clean clothing should be worn after treatment. If itching and symptoms persists re- treatment should be done after 15-20 days. Both sexual and close personal contacts should be examined and treated. Make sure that all persons should be treated at the same time to prevent re-infestation.

Permethrin is a skin cream is safe for adults, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and children over 8 years old. Ivermectin can be taken as a pill to treat scabies when prescription lotions don't work. It's often prescribed for people with crusted scabies or lowered immune systems. Ivermectin isn't recommended for people who are pregnant or nursing, or for children.

Because the symptoms of scabies are due to a hypersensitivity reaction (allergy). itching still may continue for several weeks after treatment. If itching still is present more than 2 to 4 weeks after treatment or if new burrows or pimple-like rash lesions continue to appear, retreatment may be necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
