Could Itchy Keloid In Abdomen Poses A Problem During Pregnancy?
hi doctor, I had a fall in 2010 and bruised my side which resulted in keloid which i removed a year later. It grew bigger and its still itchy. My finance is worried it might pose a problem in pregnancy since its in my stomach. Please doctor should I be worried?
Hi, Keloids are nothing but overgrown scar tissue made up of collagen fibers. They usually grow beyond their boundaries of original wound. Now,if it has on your abdomen due to trauma and reappeared again then you can go for intalesional injection(direct injection over scar or keloid) of corticosteroid (triamcinolone) with topical antifungal cream to get rid off it. Other methods are cryotherapy or external beam radiotherapy which have more than 90% cure rate. Don't worry it won't affect your future pregnancy but it would be better if you go for removal. Consult general surgeon for that. Thanks.
