Could Knee Swelling Post A Total Knee Replacement Surgery Be Reactive Arthritis?
I had a total knee replacement in Sept. and at the end of November I m got the flu and it affected my knee. I lost all the good that therapy had done. I could barely walk, my Knee swelled, was not with pockets of fluid. Could this be reactive arthritis?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Usually few viral infections may lead to joint inflammation and swelling due to synovium involvement. If it is affected, operated knee means then there is a secondary infection which may be aggravated after viral flu.
Please consult your orthopedician for investigation and treatment accordingly, he will do Tapping and scan of knee for synovial fluid.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
