Could Leg Edema Be Due To Diabetic Medications?

age-65 known diabetic on glimy-1 before breakfast and glycomet 500 after dinner.for about 1 year now CBS before breakfast---168 what to do next should i check creatinine now and lipid profile after stopping glycomet .Recently having oedema in legs Is it a side effect of these drugs not on any antihypertensive now

Hello,

neither glimepiride (glimy) nor metformin (glycomet) are supposed to justify the leg edema. You need assessment for its cause. Possible causes include heart failure, kidney problems (diabetic nephropathy with increased protein in the urine), vein insufficiency, other drugs etc.
168 mg/dL is very high for a fasting glucose measurement. You should consider adding another pill to your regimen or switching to insulin. You haven't provided enough details about your medical history to allow for a more detailed approach.
