Could Light Bleeding In Early Pregnancy Mean Miscarriage?

I found out I was 4-5 weeks pregnant. Took at home tests.. all positive. Took another one days later, negative. On the same day, i took a blood test at my OBGYN and tested positive. Two days later, I had some light bleeding. Went to the ER (no OBGYN on staff) and they told me I could be miscarrying because of my hCG levels being so low.., but to follow up with my OBGYN in the next few days. I only bled the day I went to the ER and I stopped the next morning. I still have all the symptoms of pregnancy, and the miscarriage was absolutely painless, no cramps, nothing. Could i still be pregnant and the hCG levels are too low because I m only at 4 weeks, or is this a miscarriage?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Looking at the description you have given, it is difficult to say weather your pregnancy is progressing or there is a miscarriage.
Based on HCG levels, which need to increase as pregnancy progresses, as you have stated it is low, there is a possibility that pregnancy has not taken up.
But, it is better to get a transvaginal ultrasound scan (TVS) done to know the exact status of your pregnancy. You can also repeat beta-HCG levels in serum.
Then with the reports, consult OBGYN specialist for proper opinion and management at the earliest. Until then relax, avoid physical exertion, have healthy diet and keep yourself well hydrated.
Wish you all the best.
