Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Lightheadedness, Dizziness, Head Congestion And Breathlessness Indicate Dehydration Or Sickness?
I am from the east coast but am spending 3 weeks in Colorado. Today, I was very light headed after a brisk walk after lunch, sweating (67 degrees), dizzy and short of breath. It was hard to walk a really straight line and I took a long nap. I am still short of breath. I feel like my head is congested but no actual symptoms. Could this be dehydration or altitude sickness?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Feeling of light-hotheadedness, sweating, dizziness and shortness of breath could be due to various causes like hypoglycemia, anemia etc. Thus, I suggest you to get some investigations like complete hemogram and blood glucose levels. Episodes of hypoglycemia are expected if you are a diabetic. Complete hemogram is also required to check the level of hemoglobin. In case low hemoglobin is detected, appropriate treatment will be planned for anemia. Hypoglycemia is treated with administration of glucose and treatment of underlying cause. Management can be planned after relevant clinical assessment.
