Could Low BP And Weakness Be Due To Chemicals In The Paint?

My husband has suddenly taken ill after painting a house in poorly ventilated conditions (painted in windows). During this time he begin to get weak and his BP was 115/35 for a couple of days. He is 72.
He has always worked out in a gym and has been healthy missing only 1-1/2 days work in 32 years.
His nose began to trickle blood and it lasted all day so he finally consented to go to the hospital. After several tests they found his Hemoglobin to be 58. He has had occult blood tests and urine tests and they are sort of ruling out a bleed.
My question: Could these symptoms have anything to do with the chemicals in the paint? One other thing we found out is that there were 3 family members that had pernicious anemia.
Would appreciate hearing your response.
