Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I just had a mucocele surgery 6 days ago and now the dry skin on my outer lip flaked off and revealed this bump. Will it go away? Is it another newly formed mucocele ? Please help me because this is my 3rd mucocele surgery and I m starting to lose hope.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems that flaking of outer lip along with formation of a bump seems to be probably due to causes like bacterial infection, inflamed sebaceous gland that are present in abundance over the lips while can also be due to allergic reaction..
As far as mucocele is concerned it is caused due to ruptured duct of minor salivary gland and it is present inside the mouth and not outside as salivary glands are present inside mouth and not outside..
I would suggest you to apply antiseptic ointment over the lump.. Do cool compresses over the lump.. Apply Petroleum jelly over the lips.. In case of no resolution consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
