Hi,
Generally, a higher PSA level corresponds to more likelihood of prostatic cancer. PSA level is generally increased with persons having prostatic cancer. In fact, when cancer cells form in
prostate, they begin to produce more PSA.
The likelihood of prostatic cancer is more, if the level of PSA goes on increasing. Ideally, every case of
prostatomegaly, where PSA is > 4, should undergo for a prostatic
biopsy. Here, in your case, as PSA is more than 7 and it is increasing gradually. Therefore, in this case your doctor has rightly advised you for a prostatic biopsy to reach at a conclusive diagnosis and treatment done accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
