Could Mild Prolapse Of Uterus Cause Light Brownish Vaginal Spotting?
I am a 51year old postmenopausal and I ve had light spotting for the last couple of days which has been a brownish colour. I ve been to the doctor and I m awaiting an appointment for a scan. I have had mild-moderate prolapse of the uterus and was wondering if it could be the cause of the spotting.
Based on the history you have shared, the prolapse if involve strain on superficial blood vessels may cause such spotting however gynecologist review and per vaginal examination with speculum for any outgrowth or neoplastic suspicious lesion should be ruled out. Ultrasound pelvis may also be needed. Surgical correction of the prolapse should be sought as soon as possible.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
