Could Mild Prominence Of Faetal Pelvic Calyceal System In Pregnancy Be Harmful?
Dear Doctor,
My sisiter is 24 weeks pregnant and in the scan mild prominent of faetal pelvic calyceal system due to full bladder. Please advice whjat to do whetehr it will create any problem for the child. First scsn shows both and as per current scan only one kidney has problem. Please advice.
hi,mild dilatation of fetal pelvi calyceal system is not necessarily harmful.in most cases once the baby is born and starts urinating the kidney size comes to normal.so in all likelihood since it was first seen in both kidneys and now only in one it will be physiologcal.but once the baby is born will require an ultrasound of the abdomen to rule out posterior urethral valves or vesicoureteric reflux which are both surgically correctable.so dont worry and take care .
