Could Moderate To Large Ketones With Diagnosed Gestational Diabetes During Pregnancy Be Serious?

I am 33, 30 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, (although my numbers are not high, only off by about .3, (ie, my morning number will be 5.6 instead of 5.3)) Most mornings I check my ketones and they are moderate to large, if I drink Orange Juice at 3am when I get up to pee, there are none in the morning. I am quite adamant about checking though and sometimes throughout the day there are trace to small amounts again. However, again if I have a glass of orange juice they go away. I do drink a lot of water. I have a nasty cold though can that be what is causing them. Every time I check my sugar its good. Within normal ranges. Also, can ketones harm my unborn baby?

Hi,
Thank you for choosing Healthcaremagic. You need to drink lot of water to prevent dehydration, sometimes dehydration can cause ketosis. What you need is regular blood sugar evaluation and titration of Insulin ( if you are on it)..All the best, prevent HYPOGLYCEMIA..
Please ask if you have more questions. If you are satisfied, please make sure that your ACCEPT my answer so that I receive credit. Good luck!!
