Could My Strong Urine Odor, Increased Urgency, And Back Pain Indicate A UTI?

i had small white specs in my urine when i went into an emergency room in Georgia recently. The ER doctor did not order the urine sample. I gave it once I arrived because i had to go urinate.Anyway, they told me that my glucose was high and that my magnesium was a little low. I recieved both insulin and magnesium but the ER doctor never checked my urine sample and stated that she didn t need too..Well,now im getting a strong odor from my urine,im also getting an urge to where im having trouble holding it and im beginning to pain in both sides of my back.. I have a history of UTI,could that be it? And should I make a routine doctors visit or go to a specialist or back to the ER?

Hello,

Get clinically examined by a Urologist since you are also having trouble holding the urine. Your symptoms may be indicative of UTI, bladder and kidney infection, overactive bladder, bladder stones, etc. The Urologist will tell you to get done Urinalysis (R/E & C/S), blood tests, NCV test, certain imaging tests. Your treatment will be done with antibiotics, pain medications, physical therapy, etc.

If required bladder training and bladder instillation; lithotripsy or surgery may be recommended. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected. In the meantime, you are advised to drink plenty of water and to take pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen to help manage discomfort.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
