Could Oesophagus Hernia Be Due To Excessive Cough?

I have been diagnosed with esophagus hernia through an endoscopy. Can this be caused by excessive cough? Or can the hernia cause the cough? Also can the hernia be cured or can it recede by itself? What are the possible treatments? Or does a hernia necessarily required a surgery to remove it? Thank you. Nicole
