Could Pain In Abdomen, Nausea And Diarrhea After Swallowing A Fish Bone A Matter Of Concern?

On Tuesday night I swallowed a fish bone and it felt like it got stuck in my throat and was painful. I went to the ER where they obtained X-rays and a CT scan looking for the bone and they could not find it. The on-call GI doctor came in and did an endoscopy and could not find the bone. Today I have stomach pain, nausea and diarrhea. Is this something to be concerned about?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If no fish bone found then whatever the symptoms you have may not be due to that, only thing is if the investigation is not done in proper way then you can go for it again just to clear the doubt, but again if no fish bone is there then the symptoms of abdomen pain and nausea are not due to that, else it can be there in presence of fish bone.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
