Could Pain In Neck Behind Ear Be A Sign Of Stroke?
I suffered a stroke 1-1/2 years ago. I am 39 and was in great shape when it hit me. Obviously the physical activitie has been nill except for the basic exercises. As of 12 pm today I have been having a sporatic pain shooting to the left side of my neck behind my ear. When I had the stroke they found the clot on the left side of my head in the neck right before it would have entered my brain. These pains are not those to make me fall on the floor in tears but they are significant enough to get my eyes cringing. I am on disability and because I make too much on disability they have cancelled my medic aid. I cant afford to see a doctor for a false alarm but at the same time would not like to have another stroke. Any input would be greatly appreciated

Stroke by definition is an INSTANTANEOUS LOSS of neurological function which affects the function of limbs, speech, language, balance, eyesight, hearing, or state of alertness. Sporadic shooting pains is not a recognized symptom of an acute stroke or stroke in evolution. You should focus on finding medical attention to define these pains which are likely related to something dental, something in the neck or in the ear, but again these are highly unlikely to be symptoms of loss of blood supply to the brain. If u do not have any pain radiating to arm, then it could be ear pain, also check the pain should not be associated with headache, or vomiting because that could be alarm to stroke. As well keep checking your BP on a regular basis because that could be another big cause of stroke for many cases. Apart from this the pain u are talking about could also be related to ear pain. But if it is associated with many other combine symptoms like headache, vomiting, involuntary movement of your facial muscles. Then do contact you neuro and let him diagnose properly. And if it's only ear pain probably u can use some antibiotic or antifungal ear drops. Take care.
