Could Pain In Shoulder And Neck After A Fall Be A Matter Of Concern?
Hi, i fell down the stairs this afternoon and the step struck me rights across my upper back (in the middle of my shoulder blades just above where my bra strap goes across). The pain was incredible and I immediately lay on the floor for 15 mins before moving again as I feared I may have really injured myself. I am now moving around ok although the area of impact still hurts a lot. If I look right down or stretch forward it hurts. I have been applying ice to the area. I suffer a lot with shoulder and neck pain anyway and was considering seeing a doctor next week to raise the issue as it has been particularly bad since I moved house 7 weeks ago and did a lot of lifting and carrying. I have hard nodules in my shoulders and have some trouble lifting owing to the pain and sometimes lose a little movement in my neck. I have to work tomorrow morning but my question is should I seek medical attention ASAP or am I ok to leave it until next week as I had planned. Is it dangerous to ignore the fall?
thank you for your query.... first you should check whether you can move your arm in all directons i.e. outside inside front back rotation up and down....if these movements are ok that is there is no pain...you might delay your visit to the doctor for a week..in the meantime take painkillers with antacids, apply ice, and restrict movements a bit.... however if moving your arm is quite painful or restricted....then there might be any problem seeking medical advice immediately....
hope this was helpful.... regards
